At what age should my child first visit the dentist?

It is usually best to bring your child to the dentist for their first visit soon after their first teeth appear, which is typically around their first birthday. Be certain to bring your child to the dentist before their third birthday.

How often should I take my child to visit the dentist?

Children and adults of all ages should visit our dental office every six months for a regular dental check-up and oral exam. Visiting our office regularly for a routine check-up helps to prevent cavities and other dental problems.

How should my child clean their baby teeth?

Help your child clean their teeth with a soft-bristled, small-headed toothbrush at least once every day before bedtime. The main goal in brushing their teeth is to remove food residue. Dr. Sam Amirani and Dr. Tom Lawlis recommend using fluoride toothpaste the size of a grain of rice for children under 3 as soon as they can spit it out rather than swallow it. Older children may use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste.

When will my baby get their first teeth?

The lower two front teeth generally erupt at about six months of age, followed by the upper two front teeth. The rest of the baby teeth (primary teeth) will appear during the next 18 to 24 months, and all 20 baby teeth should erupt by 2 or 3 years of age.
