You probably know that there are a number of things you can do to protect your teeth. Similarly, you know that brushing and flossing are vital to your oral health. However, do you know how to determine the type of floss that’s best for your teeth?

If you have large gaps in your teeth, you should consider dental tape or super floss. Conversely, if there isn’t much space between your teeth, waxed floss may be the option you need. If you struggle with traditional string floss, you could consider disposable floss picks. Patients who have braces could also find spongy floss a good option.

Of course, once you have the right type of floss for your teeth, you should remember to floss at least once every day. We recommend using about a foot and a half of floss every time to make sure you get all of your teeth with clean pieces of floss. When you do floss, please remember to move your floss up and down on both sides of each tooth. You should also form your floss into a c-shape. Finally, please remember that flossing isn’t enough by itself. As you know, you’ll also have to brush your teeth. If you decide to floss your teeth before you brush, please don’t forget to brush afterwards. Conversely, if you choose to brush your teeth before you floss, you should rinse your mouth thoroughly.
